The CCMC connects scientists, researchers and clinicians to build computational models of cancer that help improve patient outcomes.
WHY USE MATH MODELS?
Cancer is a complex and heterogeneous disease. It involves many cells, reactions, and events that happen over time.
To truly understand cancer and develop better treatment strategies, we must use computational modeling, combined with experimental studies and clinical testing.
WHAT CAN MATH MODELS TELL US?
- What is the right treatment for a patient?
- Will a certain cancer drug stop tumor growth?
- How will a cancer drug affect healthy tissues in the body?
Computational modeling provides tools to address the complexity of cancer and provide detailed mechanistic insight needed to answer these questions and many more.
